Mandy Stadtmiller presents the 1st Annual Courage in Comedy award to Kyle Kratzke.
Kyle is just 17 years old and has already survived a brain tumor, performed earlier this year on my show Desperation Tonight at Caroline's and has started performing stand up comedy regulalry. Kyle believes there is humor in everything and that it's important to let nothing stand between you and your dreams. Kyle started his own organization - giving it the darkly humorous name "Brain Tumors are Funny" - dedicated to helping children and families who are facing a brain tumor or other serious medical challenges. Did I mention that he's 17? For all this, Mandy and myself created the Courage in Comedy award, which we presented to Kyle on Nov 11 at Gotham Comedy Club, as part of The NY Comedy Festival. We thank Kyle and his dad Robert for coming out and sharing our special night.
